01 / Overview

The job

2,000 m².
Three days.

Atkinson Surfacing was appointed to resurface the main car park at Sand Moor Golf Club in Leeds. The existing asphalt had reached the end of its serviceable life, with widespread wear and cracking affecting the appearance and performance of the surface.

We planned the work over three days in August 2021 and kept the golf club open throughout.

02 / The challenge

Before work

Worn out.
Still in daily use.

The existing asphalt was heavily worn and cracked across the main car park. Sand Moor needed a full resurfacing solution that would improve durability and presentation without disrupting members and visitors.

Safe access had to be maintained throughout, so the work was carefully phased around the club's day-to-day operation.

Back in use

first impression.

The completed works transformed the main arrival point for members and visitors, providing a durable SMA10 surface with clearly defined parking bays and improved accessibility.

Careful phasing kept the club open throughout, allowing normal day-to-day operations to continue while the resurfacing was completed.

07 / Why this project mattered

Good work is more than a new surface.

Keep the club open

The three-day programme was phased so the club could continue its normal day-to-day operation.

Work safely around members

Safe access was maintained for members, visitors and staff throughout the works.

Finish within programme

Planing, surfacing, rolling and line marking were completed inside the agreed three-day window.

Leave a lasting surface

Approximately 300 tonnes of SMA10 created a durable finish for the club's main car park.
